Starting point
Coconuts, destined to be thrown away, that we rescue to turn into on-trend bowls.
Upcycling to avoid waste is the whole concept behind this ecological, artisanal tableware. The fact: increasingly trendy, coconut is heavily used in the food and cosmetics industries. It goes into making many vegetable fats and margarines, cosmetics and soaps for its foaming power, as well as detergents and other industrial products.
The problem: while coconut is highly valued for its many components, the shell around it doesn't always meet a happy end. Hundreds of thousands of coconut shells are burned every year, releasing large amounts of methane and CO2 into the atmosphere — not to mention the sheer waste of a natural resource!
The solution: so why not bring this extremely resistant natural material into our restaurants? The Badabowl coconut bowl is an opportunity to take your guests on a journey, and to add an original touch to your professional tableware.

Cutting & extraction
Coconut bowls are all handmade, from coconut shells whose flesh has been removed for other uses. The coconuts we use are harvested in Vietnam from sustainable sources.
The coconuts are first cut in two, then the coconut water and copra are extracted from the fruit. The water and copra are then used for food and cosmetic products, and the shell is used to make our coconut bowl!

Inner sanding
Once the coconut has been emptied, the artisans carry out sanding of the inside of the shell to achieve a perfectly smooth interior. This process is repeated 3 times, to guarantee optimal cleaning of the inside of the coco bowl!

Outer sanding
This step involves polishing the outside of the shell, until a perfectly smooth finish is achieved. The rims of the bowl must also be smoothed, as cutting can leave irregularities.

Cleaning & nourishing
After sanding, the artisan cleans the bowl and applies coconut oil over the whole shell of the coco bowl. This final step gives a shiny finish to the bowl, while also nourishing the material. We recommend nourishing the bowls with coconut oil this way every 6 months, to keep the shine and quality of the product.
On request, coconut bowls can be laser-personalised, for a natural finish and unmatched precision. Adding a logo to coconut bowls is an excellent way to stand out from the competition and build a brand image while conveying eco-responsible values. What's more, coconut bowls can be sold as takeaway items, as an option or on deposit, generating extra revenue while boosting word of mouth.

Personalisation & packaging
Each bowl is carefully wrapped in tissue paper, food-safe, to protect it from any damage during transport. And there you have it, Badabowl coconut bowls are ready to be shipped!
For your whole restaurant menu
Just because a coconut bowl is natural doesn't mean it's fragile. You can put any type of dish in it, liquid or solid, whether cold or hot. Of course, it's best to avoid boiling liquids to prevent accidents…
Here are some usage ideas for the coconut bowl, perfectly suited to hospitality: smoothie bowls, poke bowls, desserts, ice cream cups, sharing tapas, a small salad or fries, side dishes, bread baskets, or the bill tray.
The coconut bowl is made only of natural fibres, which is why we recommend washing it carefully by hand and avoiding soaking it in water or using detergent. And if you follow our advice and nourish it every 6 months, your Badabowl coconut bowls will stay glossy for years to come!
